At lot of internet marketing guru’s are masters of all the different ways to produce media.  So I have been writing, I have made a couple video’s so I figured I would try and do a couple podcast just to see what it would be like.  One of my favorites Yaro Starak one of the best collections of free interviews and podcast about internet marketing and success stories available online.

One of the 1st set of Podcast that I listened to was Steve Pavlina over a year ago.  Steve was a computer game coder that decided he was going to become a motivational speaker a couple years ago.  His podcasts are pretty good I suggest you also check these out.

Some Tips

  1. Just do it. Find something that records click record and do it.
  2. Listen back to yourself.  When listening figure out what you don’t and do like make note of it.  I know I tent to clear my throat and say ummmm or ahhh.  THIS IS BAD break that happen if you have one.
  3. Make sure it is quite and not windy if outside.  Elimate background noise.
  4. Plan with bullets or an outline, if you do this and you get lost for words you can quickly look at your notes look for the next topic you wanted to cover.
  5. Tell a Story.  People love stories, especially success stories.

Now I went straight from the hip on my 1st one and I was actually painting my deck at the same time but wanted to just see what I sounded like and I was really impressed with the results.  I wasn’t even sure where to begin and you can see cause I talk about how crappy my podcast is cause I didn’t have a plan but I quickly pulled it together and got my some great thought out of my head.

Now I have been listening to guru’s and other motivational speaks for a long time so maybe everything the have said came right back out of my month but now it is my version of the story.

It will take a lot of energy to talk straight for more then 10 or 20 minutes so know that going in but you can hit pause or play but make sure you talk in some solid chunks of 8-20 minutes or it might be hard to piece together if need be.

Learn from your mistakes, we all make mistakes, lets face it your 1st podcast is not going to be great but you might as well get that out of the way cause the just keep getting better from there.

My 1st podcast is available here

Please listen to it and let me know what you think.  I know the quality is a little low so I will work on that for the next ones this was done on my mp3 player outside while I was painting my deck so it is not studio quality.  In this 22 minute podcast I cover a lot of different things but really it is about me, my business and Internet Marketing tips and tools I discovers this last month which is really the month were everything started to click for me.  There is a lot of value in this to someone that is either just starting out stuck with there blog or business.

Here is a list of title’s I was thinking of calling this so you can get a idea of what it is about.

  • My Crappy 1st Pod Case
  • The Pod Cast about Crap
  • How to make a Crappy Podcast
  • Do I sound like Frank Kern?
  • IT Guru unloads his thought’s on his 1st 3 months of building an online business.
  • Blogging when things start to click

Seriously this is a really good podcast, you should listen to it if you want to learn more about the key rookie mistakes I made.  Along with the some of the things I figured out.  I have starter down the path to building my online business and there is no turning back now.

Warning the this raw, unedited, unscripted, unplanned but great stuff.  If you want to get to know me better listen to this and tell me what you think.

Please I would really like to here your thought on if this as I a plan to do more.

I wanted to do a quick post to let everyone know about a couple things that distracted me this week on the internet form the Guru’s.

First I like to say go listen to the podcast/interview on Yaro’s site with Maria A Andros “The Video Marketing Queen”.  You will learn a thing or two for free about social media.  Maria been doing quite well for her self on the internet marketing and social media and only started about 2 years ago and is now make sick money.  She recently help Brian Williams make 100k in 3 months.  She seems to be a good gal in this business that you can trust with a lot of good free advice.  Going to have to keep my eyes on what she is doing and she enjoys helping others.  Seems to be the trend help others make make.

She is also offering a free access to her coaching program you just need to submit a video by EOD (End of Day), getting mine ready.  Wouldn’t that be a nice win.  Not sure of the cost of her product but she claims it is a $5000 dollar value so this might be another 1000-2000 dollar product I going to start tracking these mega products just to see how many there are.  Looks like a winner if you got the funds if not send a video in and see if you can win a spot.

So check this out.    http://socialmediatrafficblueprint.com/

Next Ed Dales 30 day challenge which includes a Facebook addition.  Starts August 1st, this is sick.  This will blow your mind that he was able to do all this stuff within Facebook and it is also free.  I signed up for Ed program once before but was a victim of information overload at the time and only watched a couple of the video’s.  However the timing might be better for me now and I thinking I can pull some traffic from the community aspect of the way he set this thing up.  Not to mention this is the 1st Facebook app of this kind which might become a new trend.  Facebook is a hugh!

You have to look at this it is a full blown training program on Facebook.  I need to figure out how he did this reason enough for giving it a try.  If you also going to try it out let me know.  He has it setup that you can create teams within the challenge so send me and invite or comment, tweet whatever if you interested.  I all ready see that 4 of my friends signed up pretty cool.  Looks like I got a team started.

Coming soon my 1st podcast!  Stay tuned good stuff.

How cool is this.  I guess my daughter has taken some interest in what I been up too.  She has now challenged me.  She thinks she can build a better site then me.  Pretty cool so I figure her and I could spend some quality time learning how to be a blogger together. animals

She has a vision and everything.  She is going to do a weekly post about a different animals every week.  She allready has some stuff from her school projects so this seem like a good topic for her and she loves animals.

I just setup her up with a place to post all about animals.

Katelyn enjoys swimming, riding her bike and talking about animals.  She also enjoys making how to mini-video’s.  Her goal right now is to get 20 visitors to her page.

Please help her out with a little click love.  For my little girl.  Better yet wish her luck with a comment.

My Goal is to teach her how to be a better writer and learn how to produce media for the web and do more with a computer.  She is smart so she gets it.

Who knows maybe we can even figure out a creative way to pay for her own college education.  Now there is a thought!  Time for a book.

What is Social Media?

Check out the intro paragraph from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_media on Social Media.

Social media

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Social media is online content created by people using highly accessible and scalable publishing technologies. Social media is a shift in how people discover, read and share news, information and content; it’s a fusion of sociology and technology, transforming monologues (one to many) into dialogues (many to many) and is the democratization of information, transforming people from content readers into publishers. Social media has become extremely popular because it allows people to connect in the online world to form relationships for personal, political and business use. Businesses also refer to social media as user-generated content (UGC) or consumer-generated media (CGM).

My definition Social media = Gold Mine of our time!

For instance check out Perry Belcher “Social Media Money System” while it is still O-P-E-N..

Here is a list of some of the most popular sites with my ranking please comment if you have anything to add.  The all play an are important to at least have a profile on but every business might find the have they favorite and they all have their own powers.

One key thing you will need to learn is how to tie them all together.

Would you spend 2000 dollars on a Internet Marketing product?

I have been following the Internet Marketing Guru’s and studying Internet Marketing pretty hard core since the beginning of the year.  I have learn a ton and witnessed a few pretty big product launches during the course of this year and I have to ask who spends this kinda money on this stuff.  Obviously people do I just don’t get it.  Most recently Perry Belcher and Ryan Deiss are about to launch  Social Media Money System this appear to be another one.

Frank Kern launched Mass Control a few times now another 2000 product and he sold tons of it in fact around 23 million dollars worth in less then 24 hrs and then he did it again .  Perry was his top JV partner and Frank gave him his car.  I am not saying what they are selling isn’t worth it at all.  These guys put together high quality products their free material are outstanding.  There launch process is perfected I am just saying you shouldn’t be spending that kind of money unless you have it in the budget.

Michael Filsaime is another one when he launch ButterflyMarketing the 1st time it was a $2000 dollar product.  Really what it is these guys all offer good premium products and they have build so much trust and created such a brand that people will pay for it.  I bought Butterfly Marketing 2.0 in April when Mike was almost given it away I could not resist his offer.  It is a great physical product, 2 printed glossy copies of Butterfly Marketing and The Seven Figure Secrets, plus butterfly script software well worth it and a bunch of audio interviews.

They are so connected that there message are so viral.  They reach so many people and really it is all a numbers game, if they connect to 500,000 people which isn’t that unrealistic via JV or whatever a small percentage always buys.

Look I am cheap, I freely admit it.

I value every dollar and I evaluate everything I buy that is who I am.  I always look for a cheaper or free way because there often is.  So I have to ask with all the free information available on the net.  Why would anyone spend that kind of money on a Info Product. For me it is a business decision right now I don’t have a training budget.  Most companies average 5-20% of profits on training for a budget.  So if your training budget is on the higher side you shouldn’t be spending this kind of money unless your making at less 10,000 of profit.

If you listen to just about any guru’s the will flat out tell you only a small percentage succeed with their courses.  Not that the products aren’t worth it, they are worth every penny or more to someone that will take the training and use it.  Can you believe that some don’t even open them.  Other listen to them then move on and buy something else.  It is not the product or courses fault it is because the person that buys it never even completes it.

TIP: If your going to buy anything make sure you have a goal as to what you want to get out of it.  Work it till accomplish the goal of why you bought the program in the 1st place.  Buy one product at a time and set aside time to work it and complete, make sure you get your money worth.

Please let me know would you buy a $2000 Internet Marketing Product? I would love to here some of your comments.

If so you might want to check out Perry Belcher and Ryan Deiss Social Media Money System

Getting Started in Internet Marketing for Free

If your just starting out the best advice I can give you is to not spend a dime on Internet Marketing at least when starting out.

Seriously if you don’t have a clue where to start do not start with a guru program.  Most Guru’s offer free training and videos. I would start with some of their ethical bribes you know the free stuff they give you in exchange for your e-mail address.

I strongly recommend that you subscribe to the best of the best Internet Marketing Guru’s mailing list and blogs.  Make sure you setup a e-mail rule and just filter all the mails to a Guru folder.  You will get a lot but you can learn a lot from these mails.  See how they market and use their list.  You can learn a lot from these guys.  Some only sell others connect.  You can study how they do a product launch but remember don’t buy just study.

Which Guru’s should you follow most teach or focus on a niche within internet marketing.  Blogging, list building, affiliate Marketing, traffic, SEO, JV’s, Social Media, Membership Sites the list is endless find one that is offering free training about what you are trying to learn.  Take the free advice and then give it a try.  Start with Frank Kern he is one of the best and my favorite.

Begin Building your Web Presence for Free

If you don’t have a website yet or even if you do.  I suggest you give http://www.squidoo.com/ a try.   Squidoo might be the best free way to learn internet marketing.  I heard about this about a month ago and just signed up for an account and starting using it.  So far I think this might be one of the best places you can start for free to learn about the basic’s of Internet Marketing.

Here are my 1st 3 lens I did in very little time.  I plan to expand on these and build some more. I hope to share a detailed case study over the next month of my results.  These are a little off topic but wanted to test and try some different niche’s.

http://www.squidoo.com/applestuff

http://www.squidoo.com/ideafile

http://www.squidoo.com/vampirelovestories

So far I can tell you that it is easy to use, each of these took less then an hour to setup.  They have build in affiliate marketing with Amazon, eBay and some other sites.  They guide you and give you advice on the health of you lens.  So you know where you need to work, to help the health of your lens.  The tips teach you things like seo, titles, content, back links and more.  Pretty cool it almost like it grades you and gives you advice similar to what you should be doing for your blog if you have one.

Now remember I am not saying that your going to make instant cash or any.  You will learn a lot quickly, you can setup a lens and see if you can get traffic and this is free.  Squidoo uses web 2.0 so it is very easy to plug in blog feeds, youTube and many other sites.  You can even pull in your bookmarks based on keyword.  Then you decide if you want to make more out of it elsewhere or build on it more.

It seems that there are some that do make some nice extra cash doing this but from what I read it takes time but doesn’t everything.  If you want a place to play with an idea or see what is involved this is a very good place to start and lots of free help.

Give it a try today!  Great learning experience! Good place to start and it is Free!

P.S.  Please comment and share you lens with me if you have any.

What are the 5 Keys to Success?

  • Passion  Key
  • Determination
  • Planning and Time Management
  • Execution
  • Hard Work

Blog about something you love or have some kind of passion about.  If you don’t enjoy talking about it or thinking about don’t do it.  Your blog with be your life for quite some time especially when starting out.

Those that are determined have a way better chance of success that those that don’t care.  This ones to me is a no brainer but I think some people out there think everything is easy and don’t quite understand this one.

I have been an IT guy for some time.  I have worked on many projects and I will tell you one thing.  The Projects that suceeded and went the best had a plan.  Without a plan you will waste time.  Plan’s help keep you focused and on track.  You don’t need a greatly detailed plan to blog but it is importing to list out things where you need get done and where what you focus should be.  This helps keep you on track there a lot of little things going on with your site.  Content, Sales, Newsletters, Auto Responders, Traffic, E-Mail, Reading other blogs, checking your comment leaving comments on other sites.  The list is pretty endless but you need to make sure you got all the things covered or it doesn’t work.  You need to figure out how to fit it all in.  From time to time you need to shift your focus and figure out how to get some of those areas on auto pilot but that doesn’t come day one.

Execution is actually doing the work.  How many people actually know what the need to do but never do it.  You must execute!  You must learn to be efficient with your execution.  Take Action!

Hard work, everyone tries to tell you their system is easy.  Lets face it things might become easier over time as they become routine or as you learn them.  But without Hard Word in the beginning you get no where.  Look at it this way, take for example sports.  A small percentage of people make it to play at the college level and then a smaller percentage get to play in the Pro’s.  What do you think is the difference.  With sports you do need a little talent but if you lazy and don’t work hard at it you will not make it.

The harder you work the more you develop your talent.  With your online business the same holds true.  Everyone can get in the game but the percentages of those that succeed are small.  You need to put in the time and hard work to get to the next level.   You need to bring your A-game.  You need to practice and develop the skill that are required to be a Professional.
