Social Media is the rage right now its in the news and here is why. A bulk of the traffic on the internet is going to Social Media sites. Check out this graph. Just under half of all internet traffic is going to social media sites and these are only top three.

My favorite is twitter that is about the only one I visit daily. I don’t really submitt my stuff either. Except when I 1st post. I try to establish a consistent profile on all these and then use friend feed to pipe stuff in to them. Twitter is really good for connecting with new people. I try to spend most my time on my site. I like to get as much soical media on autopilot as possible.
Facebook is too busy for me but I feed it my blog post and my del bookmarks but so many are on it so you can’t ignore it. My Facebook seem active. Another tip is to link all you profile sites links back to your about page or blog. Everyone has there favorite tools. Once you figure out how to get them all feeding from one source then you can really distribute your content to the masses with only one action.
My favorite is Facebook and Twitter. I let my Twitter to post to my FB, so it’s more effective. Post one, shows two.
I don’t have the time to be active in the rests though.

Seems you have it all worked out. I try to stay consistent but it’s hard. Similar to you I’m busy and need to maximize my efforts. It’s important to select the best tools possible when determining where to spend your time.

So far I have found that Twitter is my #1 referral site, but facebook is quickly catching up. I personally prefer facebook because of the viral nature of the news feed.
My plan is to keep working on building my followers/friends on just these two networks for the remainder of the month. Any tips on the best way to build up a targeted audience?
It seems like youtube would be the next logical step, but I am not ready to make videos yet.

Hey, great list you have here. I use a service called onlywire (its free!!!) and that is a way to social bookmark on a wide range of websites such as twitter, digg, delicious, faves etc all at once. It is fast and easy. Im also starting to use things such as youtube as I think video is getting more and more powerful these days.
