Blog Redesign Part 3 (Traffic)

Traffic is probably the most important thing for you blog.  If you have no traffic or not working to improve traffic then what’s the point.  The Money Cult had a nice steady growth in traffic traffic over the last couple months.  Last month I had my first drop but I am the blame for that I stopped working on this blog/business and took a break.

My Goals for traffic is to get to the point where I have a 100 unique visitors daily before the end of the year.  How can I accomplish that 1st I need to get better get back on track with my posting.  I must post 3 times a week period.  I will continue to use the basic SEO tactics that I published in my 3 part serious on SEO.  These work they help get my on page one and two for targeted keywords overtime which result in a nice stream of continues organic traffic.

Lastly I need to continue with link building.  I have really dropped off with this.  I pretty much have only been bookmarking for the last month and half which is important but really you need to bookmark, submit your articles and build some links back to them via comments.  I was better about leaving comments on other blogs but have really started to drop off on that also so I need to continue this as my referral traffic has suffered.

A few things I would like to explore that haven’t but I would think would help is guest posting.  I would like to make it a habit to start doing some guest posting on some high traffic blogs at least once or twice per month.  I think you can really get some good exposure for yourself and that is really what traffic is all about.  The more you name and link are spread around the net then the more ways you have for people to find your site.

The other thing I haven’t done yes is any kind of article writing and submission.  I would like to here from others on this if they have tried it and had any success or not.  It is often talked about but not sure if it works as I haven’t seen any real world case studies on the topic to make a call on it.  Depending on feedback I am not sure if I will go down this path the other option is to build some TheMoneyCult branded products that I would offer for free with links back to this site or even submit to PLR sites for distribution.

In conclusion I believe I will get to my of 100 visitors a day in time it is just a matter of how much time.  If I follow my own advice here and follow thought I should be able to close in on that target before the end of the year.

Yes I will get to this some day I read a lot about article writing and it seems to make sense and can have huge traffic boost. However I don’t seem many know names doing it unless of course their outsourcing it and it is done under another name.

I think where I would use it is if I was trying to boost some of my keywords that are close to page one. If I could get some better backlinks that link to the post that might give me the what I need to move to page one.

Guest posting seems like it could have great potential. I want to make sure that I have plenty of posts on my blog and that I can consistently keep it updated before I decide to start writing for someone else.

I wrote some articles for Ezine Articles, but it did not translate into much traffic. The articles seemed to get decent traffic, but it didn’t translate into clicks to my site. I probably did not give it a real chance though, and I’m sure I tried it too early in my blog’s life.

  6. That is so right. If we give up promoting our blog then we pretty much kill massive percentage of traffic on it. Lot of traffic is referral and not necessarily SEO.

Backlinks generated as a result of referral traffic helps natural SEO but the traffic itself is worth the effort.

  9. Hi Jared,

I’m sure you’ll get to your targets too. Persistence pays – as does motivation, content and consideration of other such important factors that all add up to spell success. It seems to me that you have all these qualities and that – as long as you keep believing in yourself – it’s just a matter of time before things really take off here on your blog.

Guest Posting can quite probably play a big role – as mentionned by Brad …and it’s certainly something I’ll be introducing before too long. If you ever want to make a contribution at whatawebsite you are, of course, definitely one of those who would be more than welcome.

    Best wishes

P.S. Have you considered the plugin Comment Form Quicktags ? I only came across it yesterday and installed immediately. Very impressed – and maybe it would be good for you too? Direct at WP of course or details at
